CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of over 110 natural cannabinoids and is a non-psychoactive component of the Hemp or Cannabis plant. It possesses many of the healing properties without the “high” that is delivered by THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). Tennessee's own LabCanna, produces only the highest grade, locally-grown, and locally-manufactured products to you to maintain a positive state of well-being.

CBD FAQS

How is this legal? On Feb. 7th 2014 Sec.7606 of The Farm Bill was signed into law allowing the cultivation of hemp with less than 0.3% THC by state departments of agriculture, universities and business entities. The 108th General Assembly then enacted Public Chapter 916 removing hemp from the definition of marijuana in the criminal code and Tennessee began crafting its program for the state. On May 11th 2017 Governor Bill Haslam signed HB1164, which further modified the definition of Industrial hemp to include products made from the plant for ingestion or topical use.

What are the benefits of CBD? Current studies have shown that CBD has powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, anti-depressant qualities. It is also used successfully as a seizure treatment, cancer fighter and tumor preventative, sleep aid, neroprotectant and cognitive enhancer. CBD also supports healthy heart function, vascular health and gastrointestinal health to name just a few. There is an extraordinarily vast body of scientific research on the broad therapeutic uses of cannabis and particularly of CBD and THC. More evidence exists than can be found on some of the most widely used therapies of conventional medicine.

Will it make me fail a drug test? The short answer? No. Only a metabolite produced from THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, is tested for in a drug test. CBD is a completely different molecule and does not cause the body to produce this metabolite in meaningful amounts. Whole-plant, or full-spectrum CBD oils do contain trace amounts of THC, but in such small amounts, much larger quantities would have to be consumed in order to approach the limits of current tests.

Is CBD safe? YES! Not only is it safe, it can be taken by kids and animals. All mammals have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) that is a group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors located in the mammalian brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems. Our bodies are designed with 2 types of receptors for cannabinoids like CBD. The American Epilepsy Society’s lead Doctor says, “CBD appears to be an effective, sometimes extremely effective, treatment that is safe and well-tolerated overall.” 7. How much should I take? Can I overdose? You cannot overdose on CBD, but only small amounts are needed to experience the benefits. Most people report that between 20 and 60mg per day are effective for most uses. Those with anxiety or chronic pain tend to like more, while those with minor symptoms like muscle spasms report that only a few milligrams works for them. CBD has roughly a 9 hour half-life in the body, so we generally recommend taking it twice per day and experimenting with different doses until you find what is right for your body. Evidence is also beginning to show that it can be beneficial to consume the whole-plant extract in conjunction with higher amounts of CBD.
