Why Float?

Floating allows you to relax, recharge and recalibrate.

A large portion of our mental and physical resources are spent counteracting the force of gravity with every moment. The Epsom salts in the tank creates buoyancy, allowing the body to float which reduces the sensation of gravity by approximately 80%. The magnesium sulfate in the Epsom salts is also easily absorbed into the skin and help detoxify the body.

Eliminating external stimulation to the nervous system allows the body to do great things. By removing light and sound, it allows parts of the mind to harness an abundance of resources that are usually occupied with processing day to day life. Floating allows your brain to slow down into a dreamlike state known as Theta mode. With the absence of energy being spent on processing your environment, your body spends its efforts on resting, recuperating, and healing

Relax

Stress relief comes almost instantly from floating. While floating, the body reduces the production of stress hormones and begins to release endorphins which induces ultra-deep relaxation. Effortlessly slip into a meditative state and journey inward.

Recharge

Floating allows for a downshift in the frequency of brainwaves. Our brains spend most of their waking day in what’s known as Beta and Alpha states. When we sleep we go into REM sleep, this is our Delta state. In between the highest and lowest frequency states is what’s known as Theta state. Practiced meditation is one place that people can find long periods of Theta. Floating gives us an extended period of time in the Theta state. Science has shown that Theta state is a place of healing, rest, and rejuvenation.

Recalibrate

The body’s ability to heal itself is accelerated while floating. Anything from the effects of stress, intense workouts, late-nights, and overstimulation can be addressed by the body and mind working in harmony. You’ll emerge from your float with your senses heightened and your horizons broadened. Floating naturally increases your dopamine and endorphin levels, boosting your mood and leaving you with a pleasant afterglow that can last for days.

Experience

Lay back and experience the wonders of true relaxation.

The float tanks contain around 1000 pounds of Epsom salt in the water, which allows your body to float effortlessly much like being in zero gravity. The water is kept at 93.5 degrees allowing you to lose track of where your body ends and the water begins. The tanks are insulated against sound so outside noises do not reach you. In this environment, your thoughts are free to wander without distraction, your muscles and connective tissues begin to unwind, joints are supported and relax, and your lower back begins to decompress and align. Your mind and body gets to rest, de-stress, and heal. After the float session is over, you will feel renewed and ready for whatever life throws your way.

Each private room has a shower area, a place for personal items, and includes everything you will need for a great floating experience including: bath robes, slippers, towels, and earplugs. For the full “distraction free experience” it is recommended that there is no sound, light, etc. while floating. However, relaxing music can be requested and played in the tank as well as the option to have a light on inside.

Dreampod V2 (Dream Room)

  • Floating for the first time will not be anything like you can imagine. That’s okay because it’s impossible to go in with no expectations. Just remember, one thing you can expect for sure is that you will leave the tank feeling relaxed.

  • Make sure a towel is easily accessible near the tank in case you get water in your eyes. There is nothing worse than scratching an annoying itch on your face only to get water in your eyes!

  • Do not think about time. Worrying your session is about to end or wondering how long you’ve been in only subtracts from the experience.  You will receive an auditory or visual notification letting you know your session is over.

  • Focus on breathing. Just like meditation, focusing on breathing can help you relax.

  • Try placing hands above head, out to sides, crisscrossed over chest to find your most relaxed position.

  • The more times you float, the less time it takes to get "in the zone" during future floats.

  • Use the provided vaseline to cover cuts or scratches. Ever heard the idiom “to rub salt in a wound?” Because of the salt in the tank, forgetting to cover cuts brings that idiom to life in a float tank.

  • Try floating both with and without the foam neck pillow. Some find neck support helps relaxation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring anything?

Just yourself. We provide towels, robes, earplugs, and everything else you need.

Do I need a swimsuit?

You typically float in the nude, so no swimsuit is required. You will have your own private room for the session.

What if I’m claustrophobic?

You are in complete control of the environment. You can float with the light on or have music playing. Our WAVE Float Rooms are larger than most and don’t feel as enclosed. They provide a great experience for first time floaters and experienced floaters.

Is the water clean?

Absolutely. The highly sterile salt water is filtered three times between each float and is sanitized with hydrogen peroxide and UV light. Additionally, the Epsom salts in the water are a natural disinfectant. The water in a float tank is far cleaner than any swimming pool.

Do I need to do anything to prepare?

It is recommended not to shave or wax before. Eat a small meal at least an hour and a half before. Try to avoid caffeine before.

Can I float if I’m pregnant?

Yes. Pregnant women have used floating to relieve stress on their bodies for decades. There is even a special position you can float in that relieves all of the weight of the baby off of the mother’s body. If you are in your third trimester, or have any concerns, please consult with your physician before coming in.

Can I float after I color my hair?

Please wait 2 weeks after dyeing your hair to float. If the dye is set and doesn’t come off on a towel after showering you are good to go!

Can I float with a new tattoo?

Waiting for the tattoo to heal is very important. Tattoo artist/floaters suggest waiting 4-6 weeks for it to heal to reduce any pain and fading or discoloration of your tattoo.

Is floating ‘legit’?

Absolutely! Floating has been around for over 60 years and has tons of published research to back it up. As with any research… the more the better!

Is there an age limit?

All of our services are for individuals who are over the age of 18.
