Float ~ Relax. Recharge. Recalibrate.

Float Therapy is one of the best ways you can experience deep relaxation to allow your mind/body system time to relax, recharge, and recalibrate. Often times the mind and body are thought of as separate from each other but they are very much connected. The food we eat, exercise, music, hobbies, entertainment, sleep patterns, etc., all determine how we think, feel, and how we perceive the world around us. Various hormones produced in our brain directly affect the way our body feels and functions.

Stress is one of the leading causes of disease and mental health issues. Cortisol is a hormone that creates a stress response in our body causing inflammation to occur. Many different aspects of our reality can cause stress to occur. Stress can be a good thing but if not channeled properly it can lead to health problems. Float Therapy helps the body reduce stress (cortisol) which leads to less inflammation and a healthier you!

Float Therapy was developed in the 1950s by Dr. John C. Lilly to explore different aspects of our conscious and subconscious reality. Our float tanks contain around 1000 pounds of Epsom salt in about 10 inches of water, which allows your body to float effortlessly much like being in zero gravity. The water is kept at 94 degrees F (about skin temperature) allowing you to lose track of where your body ends and the water begins. The tanks are insulated against sound so outside noises do not reach you. In this environment, your thoughts are free to wonder without distraction, your muscles and connective tissues begin to unwind, joints are supported and relax, and your lower back begins to decompress and align. Your mind and body get to rest, de-stress, and heal. After the float session is over, you will feel renewed and ready for whatever life throws your way. By removing sensory input to the mind/body system it “awakens” parts of the brain that are normally occupied with processing day-to-day reality. Over time people have learned that by detaching from the sensory world there is a sense of peace and deep relaxation that occurs physically and emotionally from within.

The human body is regulated by brain wave frequencies. There are different brain wave frequencies produced while we are awake and asleep. During a float session as you begin to relax, the brain “downshifts” and starts producing slower, longer Theta Waves. Theta State is a state of very deep relaxation; it can be reached through the practice of meditation and occurs right before we dream. Float Therapy allows you to almost instantaneously jump into this state (with some practice of course). Science has shown that the effects of being in Theta State can have profound benefits such as stress relief and reduced anxiety, mental clarity, increased IQ performance, reduce pain, and promote the production of “feel good” endorphins such as dopamine. This leads to the “post-float glow” that many experience… even after your first session!

At Float Horizen, our spa specializes in creating the optimal environment to experience floating. Our three Wave Rooms are spacious with high ceilings giving you more room to float! You are in control of the light inside the tank and can choose total silence or music. Sessions are either 60 or 90 minutes (the longer you float the greater the benefits.) Float Therapy is naturally the perfect place to practice social distancing as you have your own private room with a shower and all the amenities. CDC and Health Department sanitization guidelines are strictly followed to assure the safety of our customers. We all can use a “reboot” to keep our bodies and minds healthy! We look forward to serving you on your “Journey to Oneness!”  Float on my friends…
